Digital Gaming 3D Modeling and Animation

My Role & Development Process

I started with an existing ball-style character concept and expanded it into a fully customized 3D character using Blender. I heavily modified the original model, sculpting and adding new components including interactive features such as a subscribe button that extends from the character’s head panel and a side body panel that slides outward to reveal a thumbs-up icon.

A major focus of the project was building an animation-ready character rig. I created a custom armature system with multiple controls and sliders that allowed me to manipulate different aspects of the character, including:

  • Mood controls that transition the character between happy and sad expressions
  • Custom color controls with smooth lighting transitions
  • Adjustable light and particle intensity settings
  • Animation controls designed to make future content creation more efficient

Audio-Driven Animation

To make the character capable of narrating videos, I integrated a phoneme-based lip-sync workflow that converts speech audio into mouth shape data. This allowed the character’s mouth mesh to automatically animate and match the audio playback timeline.

This system helped bridge the gap between AI-generated voice content and a fully animated digital presenter, creating a foundation for producing narrated videos without manually animating every speaking movement.

Final Animation & Rendering

After completing the model, rigging, and automation controls, I created a short demonstration video showcasing the character’s capabilities. The animation included multiple 3D environments and backgrounds, highlighting the flexibility of the character system and the different effects controlled through the custom rig.

The final result combined 3D modeling, character animation, audio processing, and video production into a complete digital content creation workflow.
